DESCRIPTION:This year our CCDSIG Family Fun Day & Buddy Walk will be October 13th\, 2019 at West Goshen Community Park. (West Goshen Park: Intersection of Five Points Rd & Fern Hill Rd. West Chester\, PA 19380). \nCCDSIG Fundraising: Each team that raises $250 by September 3RD will be on the event t-shirt. If you need help setting up your Team Fundraising page (all teams must have a page)\, please email ccdsig@ccdsig.org. \nFood:  Food:  Bring Your Own Picnic/Tailgating food! We will have 2 food trucks that will be parked in front of the ARC. Feel free to bring your own picnic set up. (e.g.\, a 10×10 pop up tent\, chairs\, blanket\, and lunch for your family and friends).  We will have free drinks and snacks that are collected from local corporate donors. Lunch and dessert will be available through the food trucks. \nCarnival:  As always\, we will have lots of carnival games\, activities\, crafts\, face painting\, and live entertainment.  We are looking into new and fun things to make this year even better.  Raffle tickets will be available at the Fun Day. \nRaffles:  We are grateful for raffle items and raffle baskets. In order to help our volunteer committee stay organized before and during the event\, we are asking for all raffle items and baskets be dropped off to committee chair. DESCRIPTION:Join CCDSIG for Story Time at Tredyffrin Public Library with guest speaker Christa Bialka. All ages and abilities welcome\, bring your kids\, bring your family and friends\, even bring a neighbor! We will read a few children’s books about disability and acceptance. Christa Bialka’s talk will focus on How to Talk to Kids about Disability followed by a Q & A panel including Christa\, parents\, and therapists. We hope to answer all of your questions! \n\n\nStory Time will be held at Tredyffrin Public Library on Saturday\, September 21st from 10:00 to 11:30 am in the Tyler Hedges Room. The Tyler Hedges Room is wheelchair accessible. The cost is free. Registration is required as space is limited. \nDr. Christa S. Bialka is the Associate Professor of Special Education in the Department of Education and Counseling at Villanova University. Dr. Bialka received her M.Ed. in Moderate Special Needs Education from Boston College and her Ed.D. in Teaching\, Learning and Teacher Education from the University of Pennsylvania. Her research interests include understanding the development of teacher dispositions\, preparation of teachers for inclusive classrooms\, and disability awareness. Dr. Bialka’s work has been published in Teacher Education and Special Education\, the Journal of Diversity in Higher Education\, Disability & Society\, Issues in Teacher Education\, the Journal of Experiential Education\, Action in Teacher Education\, The Journal of College and Character\, and the International Journal of Inclusive Education. Prior to earning her Doctorate\, Dr. Bialka taught English and Special Education in the Boston area.
