The Wainstein family moved to Chester County, Pa in 2004. Dana and Jason have been married since 1999. They have 4 children that attend school in the West Chester Area School District. Jason is a partner for Deloitte and travels 5 days a week. Dana volunteers for many organizations such as Westtown Thornbury Elementary, Girl Scouts, Team CMMD Foundation, and was the Chairperson for the Buddy Walk for the past 2 years. Ben is 15 years old and a freshman at Rustin. Olivia is 13 year old and is in 7th grade at Stetson. Jake is 9 years old, in 3rd grade, and Emilia is 6 years old and in full day kindergarten at Westtown Thornbury. All 4 kids are swimmers for club teams and school teams.
Jake is their child with Down Syndrome. He swims for GRA; a unified swim team and the Rammies Special Olympics Swim Team of Chester County. Jake plays the cello for the Westtown Thornbury Elementary orchestra. Jake’s biggest struggle is verbal expression. He uses many methods to communicate, ASL, verbal expression, as well as spelling words on his assistive technology. The Wainsteins are grateful for the amazing educational support team and the inclusive community in which they live. Jake has taught them that “everybody’s got something” and everyone is more alike than different.
